“I feel like to directly bring about visual perception, allowing people to abandon the confinement of language for a short period of time, that’s the reason why I choose photography as my medium.”
Chuqiao Liu is a Chinese photographer based in Glasgow. She graduated from the Communication University of China as an undergraduate with a degree in Chinese language and literature related studies. While exploring methods of communication and media vehicles, she became interested in photography because of the liberty of image expression. She began her study at Glasgow School of Art in 2020, during when she worked in the field of digital and film photography.
Humanity as a broad subject has always fascinated her, especially gender and equality, time and memory, the individual and emotions, which bring together her passion and respect for people and allow her to be inspired to use photography as the medium to narrate her story with audio, video and images.
